About Me

Kia ora! Here's a bit about my journey and what makes my approach to vocal coaching at Sing Out Loud unique. I'm passionate about helping singers of all levels in Nelson, New Zealand and online around the world, especially those who feel a bit nervous. Let's unlock your vocal potential together!

Background & Training

My foundation is built upon a solid education in music, with a degree in music and postgraduate studies in education, music and drama. I've studied vocal pedagogy with some of NZ's leading coaches, and attended the New Zealand Singing School. However, my training extends beyond New Zealand, attending workshops in Australia and completing multiple courses at the Voice Study Centre in the UK, ensuring that I'm up-to-date with the latest vocal techniques and methodologies.

Empathy Through Experience

My teaching is deeply shaped by my personal experiences with stage fright, performance anxiety, and panic attacks. I understand first-hand the profound impact these challenges can have on performers. Through these experiences, I've developed effective strategies to overcome these obstacles. I'm passionate about supporting singers and musicians of all ages to understand their own anxiety and achieve their musical goals. At Sing Out Loud, it's not just about singing notes; it's about conquering fears and finding your true voice.

Proud moments

One of my proudest achievements is creating an original one-woman musical. I performed it at the Nelson Fringe Festival and later took it to Christchurch. This project is still evolving, and I'm excited to refine it further in the coming years. This experience reflects my commitment to creativity, storytelling, and pushing the boundaries of performance, all of which I bring to my coaching at Sing Out Loud.

I have appeared in numerous plays and musicals with a variety of different companies, from amateur to semi professional. My favourites being: The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Matilda the Musical and The Last Five Years.
